Absolutely wonderful. Showed up in order to have my mom receive a wig. Not only fitted her with a beautiful product but also provided her with skin care and pillows and encouragement. Great classes. Can't say enough how wonderful.

When my Mom passed away suddenly from cancer I was shocked and in disbelief. I wanted answers and The Gathering Place was able to help my daughter and I grieve and process our loss. Their services are free and they are truly a safe haven for people who have cancer or are a loved one of someone who does. They have Reiki, group therapy, support groups - whatever is necessary to help those that need it. This organization is a good send for so many.

For anyone who has been "touched by cancer", whether a survivor, caregiver or loved one, the Gathering Place provides a resource to cope and thrive. The programs are excellent and most are provided free of charge.

I'm 28 and have been living with an incurable form of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma for over 2 years and after several people recommended it, I decided to attend one of the cancer support sessions at the Gathering Place on the east side. I contacted the person in charge to sign up for the weekly Group for Those with Cancer, which was advertised as a group for ANYONE with any type of cancer. Shockingly, I got turned away! The woman I spoke with said she didn't think it would be a good fit for me because I'm too young and because I have not run out of treatment options. To make matters worse, she didn't actually ask me any details about my diagnosis (stage, treatments I've had, etc) and just assumed that my condition is not that advanced. I'm not an idiot and know that most cancer patients are older but if something is not a good fit for me, I'd like to find out for myself. Young adults with cancer already feel out of place and this experience only made it worse for me. The woman suggested the monthly group for Young Adults with Cancer, which isn't nearly as convenient from a scheduling standpoint, or individual counselling instead. However after this experience, I think I will just find another place that welcomes ALL cancer patients, not just the ones that fit their expected demographic. Please do not advertise groups as being for ANYONE when they clearly discriminate against people based on their age and health status!

This is a support system for cancer dx and servicers. If your challenged with a recent test result or bx diagnosis of Cancer give this group a close look. Many timely programs. You will not be alone, no need to hide your diagnosis, every one has a story...many much scarier than yours...some how it's a burden you can share. And you may just find answers to questions you had no idea to ask.

Phenomenal place for cancer patients and loved ones of cancer patients we felt so welcomed and supported
