Very pretty. No water right now though & seen no animals. The building was shut as well. Was there at around 5pm.

I read where this was one of the few places in the State to view Black Bears so I wanted to check it out. It's in the middle of nowhere, and when I finally got to the Visitor Center, it was closed.

Get off the grid and go to this place, cell service is spotty which is a great thing so you can just get back to nature. If you want to truly experience nature this is the area to go, it has a nice drive through area to see different animals and a nature trial with a boardwalk and look out area. You can see bear, wild hogs and deer here.

Great side trip. Visitors center offer a great interactive presentation of the refuge and its history. Learn about the early inhabitants of the region all the way up through present times. Tons of photographs showing the history of the Tensas River region. Great nature trail to stretch your legs on and take a first hand look at the natural beauty and most likely see a few native species of wildlife. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff.

Tensas River wildlife Refuge, Tallulah , LA - If you love wildlife then you'll have a good chance of seeing some exciting wildlife throughout the year in some very fine scenery that includes mature mixed bottomland hardwood forest, seasonally flooded marshes, open fields, savanna, riparian woodland, gator ponds , swamps and lakes. Along with a seasonally varied bird population, the sighting possibilities include the Louisiana Black Bears, Raccoons , Wild Turkeys, White-tailed Deer, Wood ducks, Bobcats, Coyotes, American River Otters, melanistic Cat Squirrels, American Alligators and Wild boar sounders, a host of invertebrate species and a range of snakes. Must visit place if you are around NELA Area.

very pretty, there's a walk trail not really long til you get in their observation tower, also can drive tru the wild seen a lot of deer and the river is pretty too. 😉

Had heard about this little boardwalk from the lovely owners at Parish in Vicksburg, went for a little walk just to the boardwalk and were greeted by 2 deer and 2 armadillos amd then had a good scare when we walked up on 4 wild hogs in the mud, fortunately we scared them a little more than they startled us and they ran, it was definitely a nice little walk and would love to adventure more.

Really great hunting here. Although had to replace 4 tires so far from picking up rail road spikes on the main road. Why are those even on the road like that?
