Disorganized and Unresponsive Care

I had high hopes for Strive Mental Health and Wellness, but my experience was incredibly disappointing. For starters, don't expect your appointment to start on time—ever. Nearly every time, I found myself waiting at least 15 minutes past my scheduled appointment before the provider even came out. It's incredibly frustrating when you're trying to manage your mental health and your time.

To make matters worse, they seem to be "too busy" to actually help when you really need it. I called in a mental health crisis, desperately needing my medication adjusted, and their response was essentially, "deal with it." No support, no empathy—just disregard. It’s clear they prioritize their schedule over their patients' well-being.

If you value your time and want responsive, compassionate care, I strongly recommend going somewhere else.

I originally discovered Strive Mental Health and Wellness by simply walking by this location in Shaker Heights and seeing a sign in the window saying they accept my insurance. Not having a psychiatrist and being so close to my home, I decided to stop in and check it out. What I found was different from a traditional doctors office. I met Dr. Turell the psychiatrist and owner of the practice who runs the place. There was old vinyl records playing and a comfortable atmosphere. Dr. Turell was very friendly and welcoming. I set up an initial appointment where he asked me a lot of questions to get to know me and then prescribed me medication. After a few appointments he introduced me to a service he had available for depression called Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) which I had never heard of. Being resistant to many psychiatric medications I decided to give it a try. Dr. Turell was very helpful and professional throughout the sessions I’ve had with him. I definitely recommend Strive Mental Health and Wellness to anyone in the Cleveland area looking to tryout TMS or get involved in wellness programs he has to offer.

Strive Mental Health has great service for TMS therapy! Since I began treatment almost 6 weeks ago, I am able to sleep at night and wake up early. I've been able to focus and concentrate more. They have a variety of teas to serve while you wait! This small business needs more clients! If you4 having other symptoms of depression, try this therapy to see if it's right for you!

WHEN NOTHING WORKS THERE IS HOPE. I am about 3/4 way through treatments. I am 51 & am used to being thrown on meds & hearing try this, give it time. Dr. Turell offers something besides meds though. An actual cure.
Before I thought nothing will ever change. Nothing will ever be better. I feel more secure at my house & people don't like me. I don't even know why I felt this way.
Now I get out & do things, go new places. I don't blame myself for every little thing. I don't feel people dislike me.
I felt better after my 2nd session. There is nothing to loose here. I figured if it doesn't work there is no way I could feel worse than PTSD a TBI, very severe depression, anxiety, multiple suicide attempts & mental wards. All saying be honest & we will help you. I was honest so why couldn't they help me? Dr. Turell helped me when no one could. He gets it. He understands. It's not like I wanted to be unhappy or insecure with stomach disorders, while not being able to focus or remember things. I would lie & tell my kids it gets better just hang in there. For me though; it didn't get better. Meds didn't help past a short time or not at all.
I absolutely love life now. I'm in the moment & can focus. My TBI is better. PTSD is better. Best of all is that it didn't come from a prescription. It came from within me. Who would have thought? Dr. Turell not only thought but he truly believes in this treatment & so do I now.

I found Dr. Turell locally through a reference, and now that I live in another city, I still return to see Dr. Turell for his insight, care, and patience. His diverse background and holistic approach differs from other psychiatrists who spend little time and jump right to the meds. The new facility on Lee Road is beautiful and mellow feeling more like a yoga studio than a psychiatry office. Thank you, Dr. Turell, for being so good at what you do and for helping me so much!

I met with Dr. Turell for the first time yesterday afternoon. He is genuine, thoughtful, and thorough and allows plenty of time to get to know you. The atmosphere is peaceful and relaxing, and I look forward to returning! Highly recommend.

I started TMS with a HAM-D score of 28 and am almost done and my score is down to 7! I greatly benefitted from Dr Turell's listening, understanding, advice, and empathy. I had tried many medications and nothing had worked. I was going to give up but TMS has given me a new ability to appreciate life. Thank you!
