Lifebridge bills itself as a sanctuary and it truly is. Tucked away in the woods of upstate New York, it's secluded enough to provide a separation from all of the momentum of the world, but not so remote that it feels isolating. There are trails to explore and multiple outdoor shelters to provide shade and gathering places for your group and it all overlooks a beautiful view of the mountains. The indoor space itself is warm and bright, with lots of wood, rugs and windows for the sun to come in through and there is a well stocked library and kitchen. This place creates the conditions for healing, reflection, respite, and renewal.

I've been to Lifebridge a handful of times now, and each time I feel like I’m discovering new aspects of this beautiful and special place.

What I love most about Lifebridge is how it manages to be both grand and cozy at the same time. The main meeting room is perfect for group work, with views of the gorgeous land and surrounding distant mountains. But there are other areas that seem to appear exactly when you need a moment with a smaller group (or yourself) – an outdoor gathering of benches, a quiet seat by a window, a nook to casually sit down with a friend for coffee.

Something shifts in people on this property. The noise in your head quiets down, replaced by the rustle of leaves and the occasional bird call. In the winter, a beautiful starkness. The land itself feels alive, inviting you to slow down and just be.

The buildings are a cool mix of old and new. There are bits of original stonework peeking through in unexpected places, like in the kitchen. Speaking of which, the kitchen has some kind of weird magic going on – EVERY meal I’ve had there is delicious. Plus, I've been here when we were just a dozen people, and when the place was packed with 35+ - somehow, it is the perfect size either way.

Music has been a big part of my Lifebridge experience. There are grand pianos on property, and it's not uncommon to hear someone strumming away in the background. I feel like the echo's of nearby Woodstock bring in a special layer of warmth.

But here's the thing that's hardest to put into words: Lifebridge just meets you where you are. Whether you want to chat by the fire, or need some alone time to sort through your thoughts, or just want to wander the grounds and soak in the quiet - it's all there, welcoming.

I've been to fancy retreats that felt sterile, and bare-bones places that were all about roughing it. Lifebridge is comfortable, gorgeous, and grand without being pretentious, and every little detail feels like it was chosen with care (be sure to check out the love filled garden).

If you're looking for a place to do inner work, to connect with others, or just to remember what it feels like to breathe deeply - give Lifebridge a try. It's become my go-to spot for hitting the reset button, and I bet it'll become yours too.
