I was a Data Analyst for 5 years.

1-2nd Year
Worked with a client and with a great team. The manager had quit, and the new manager was very condescending and insulting to the point where 9 people quit. In the end, she had me do the work of 4 people from 7 am to 1 am on camera. When I went to enter my hours, I was told not to, and she would give me PTO instead. That never occurred. I offered to automate 2 of the roles but she denied it. She left, and I was promoted from $45K to $50K to a new team.

3rd Year
Worked with 10 clients, and everything was great with the team and my new manager. I was given a raise to $55K. I was told that I could move up to a more data-driven role, so I studied new skills to get promoted. The promotion did not occur.

4th to 5th Year
The workload became very intense, main hours were 8-5, but in reality, everyone on the team worked from 7 am to 10 pm normally. I usually had to work until 2-3 am. The issues came from inefficient people in higher roles. Changes were always urgent and made last minute, which fell on our team. It was very common for us to do all-nighters. Including having to work 2 jobs since the pay was low.

A running joke at Impellam is a mental health holiday, and we all work that day since we are so stressed out and bogged down with work 🙂

Final Month (Laid off due to budgeting)
I tested out an automation to streamline our dashboards. This would have saved the company over 2500+ hours a year and $60,000+, and mitigated a lot of the stress the team was going through. It was denied. If the entire point of meetings is to innovate, yet upper management consistently stops any notion of it, there is no point to this.

When I asked about a severance, they said that them letting me know and letting me work is considered the severance.

After Impellam
I joined a company that offered me double what I was making. After a month of being there and automating many of their tasks, I was given a $10K raise and will be given a manager role in 2025. To show such a stark difference, I was working an hour later just knocking out extra work, and the Site Director saw me and told me to go home. "If you have to work past 5 PM, then us managers failed at our job. I like for my workers to enjoy their day with their families."

I never wanted to leave a review, but hopefully, the people trapped there know that they are highly valued and any other place would hire them instantly with better pay and better balance.
