I was at CFC for 3 weeks. I’m from out of state & was EXTREMELY nervous & scared to even leave Colorado to come to Utah for treatment as I have 2 small children at the time of my stay. I have been to dozens of treatment centers & I thought CFC was helpful. But it was hard. Some of the staff & staff that sits with you at meals were mean but some I really liked. Like all treatment centers this one isn’t perfect. But I did love my therapist I can’t remember his name but he was really nice & helpful. I am now in recovery from anorexia & have gone on to have 3 more children. I know CFC has helped me in my Recovery. It’s a challenging program but it’s a great program. I also want to add to signed myself out after 3 weeks because I missed my children so much. I flew home & went to a treatment program in Colorado

This center is located amid beautiful mountain range, the facility is clean and comfortable, and the staff are kind and professional. The program, however, is not very helpful in recovery. I observed many patients return to treatment time after time, and others remain in the same stuck spot while in patient. Their Eating disorders were almost reinforced by allowing certain behaviors to continue and such behaviors had a negative impact on other patients. after I discharged, I did not hear a single thing from the center. It would have been nice to have some follow up resources and support….i was quite disappointed this was not the case

Our teenage daughter has been in treatment here for a month in the residential adolescent unit. It has been challenging for all of us, but the education available for both the family and the patient are outstanding and have helped us support her recovery and prepare for her return home. The staff have been very communicative, and we appreciate that we’ve been able to talk with her daily. Going to treatment was largely her choice, and I think that has made a significant difference. Also, the teachers at Cascade Mountain HS are incredible, and she has felt like she’s keeping up with school work, which eases her anxiety.

The rules were very challenging at first, and none of us understood why they were in place. That’s probably the case for most families doing this for the first time. Give yourself a few weeks to learn; it will make more sense. You just need to make it through that early transition.

I can’t emphasize enough—if your loved one needs support to overcome an ED, don’t hesitate. And you can rest assured they’ll be in good hands at CFC.

I think that Center For Change was a great program given that there are not many (if any) other options in Utah, so if you need to recover I recommend going. They could definitely improve on individualizing the program because it is very “one size fits all”, which is ironic because we are explicitly taught one size does not fit all. It can be frustrating to be a person who has been working through an eating disorder for years and sit in the same groups as someone who just realized they had one. It feels very “our program works for everyone and if it doesn’t work for you then you are the one doing something wrong.” I loved my therapist and my dietitian and appreciate how much they tried to advocate for me.

Dr Julie is the best therapist! She is kind and genuine and has changed my life for good! She has saved me in more ways than one and I couldn’t be more thankful for her and the center!

Went here in 2016, and they couldn't take care of my medical needs which were symptoms common for someone with AN. It was devastating to me as it took a lot of courage to seek out care, and I flew in from NC. I ended up being transferred to a medical hospital and left there, which didn't have ED treatment. Hope things got better, but word of caution in case it has not.

If you want true real recovery I highly recommend center for change. I’ve been to many places and this one is the first one where I actually had to go all in for once because of how strict but compassionate everyone in my treatment team was. I love that they practiced intuitive eating and that it wasn’t based off of an exchange system. Truly is a place for hope and change.

I've been to a number of residential treatment centers, and by far, Center for Change is the most impressive. My therapist and dietitian went out of their way to customize my treatment plan. Rules and expectations were clear, and not overly vindictive. I was never penalized for stimming, which was cool and unique among behavioral health facilities. Even when there were hiccups or conflicting opinion in the course of treatment, it was usually easy to see that we were all working toward the same goals.
One star down for the truly terrible pharmacy they mandate all patients use during their stay. They also had a weekly RO-DBT group that was loathsome, in both execution, and subject matter, but we'll save the rants on ableism for another day.
