A Beautiful Traditional Buddhist Temple in Spokane Washington. Geshe-La is a real Tibetan Buddhis monk from Tibet!! Such a gem to have in Spokane. Highly recommend for anyone looking to advance on their spiritual journey.

I have studied with Geshela Phelgye since shortly after he moved here nearly 10 years ago! I am incredibly grateful to have crossed paths with him, and for the compassion and wisdom he is always so generously willing to share. Geshela is a great teacher, mentor, and friend, and his teachings are always filled with wisdom, heart, and humor. A great place to learn and study authentic Buddhist teachings in a supportive community of people!

Wonderful Buddhist temple in the center of Spokane. Very friendly and nice folks to learn and study with. Tibetan monk Geshe Thubten Phelgye leads the dharma talks and meditation in a clear, concise, and joyous way. Geshela spent much of the last 45 years in Dharmsala India, living as a monk committed to the monastic life. Its incredible to have him here in Spokane to learn from! Delicious vegetarian potluck followed the service. Recommend this to anyone curious about Buddhism or for dedicated practitioners alike.

I'm very happy to have found the Buddhist Institute of Universal Compassion.
The teachings from Venerable Thupten Phelgye are always clear to me, and a good source on subjects for you to bring home and to think about.
Geshe-la and the Sangha (the group of people that follows his teachings) are supporting me in my path, my transformation path.
That's the reason why I took refuge in my Guru Thupten Phelgye, and I'm happy to say that I'm Buddhist.

Buddhist Institute of Universal Compassion is a Buddhist temple, study and meditation center in Spokane. The temple is led by Venerable Geshela Thupten Phelgye, a Tibetan Buddhist monk who is a refugee from Tibet. Beautiful teachings to remind us how to live our lives with wisdom and compassion. Meditation and studies are held on Sundays beginning at 10 a.m. The temple is located at 738 East Rich Avenue in Northeast Spokane. Everyone of all ages are welcome to attend.
